Many graduate students struggle with balancing graduate school, work, family, social obligations/engagements, and multiple personal and academic identities. As a result, self-care and exercise routines are often times compromised. Time management challenges and competing priorities can lead to burnout. In this roundtable discussion, graduate students will be provided with tips to manage commitments and to cope with stress, in addition to self-care strategies to combat anxiety and burnout. Round table leaders from various stages in their academic careers will discuss perspectives from research, teaching, service, and industry; these perspectives will help graduate students along multiple pathways in the field of applied linguistics learn to balance commitments. Through this roundtable format, graduate students identify a series of intentional actions to proactively promote and maintain health, including engagement in hobbies and personal interests.
