Transportation in the ATL

Whether this is your first time traveling to the “A” or you have visited the metro before, the AAAL GSC has compiled a list of transportation options while staying in this beautiful city. While Atlanta is often known for its traffic and car-centered atmosphere, the public transportation system, Metropolitan Atlanta Transit Authority (MARTA), offers service to various points in the metro. Below, we have provided a list of ways to get around in Atlanta during the conference.

To/From Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (Sheraton Grand Hotel)

1. Unfortunately, the Sheraton does not provide free shuttle service between the airport and hotel. However, AIRPORTSHUTTLES.COM provides service for a fee between the airport and conference hotel. If using this service, the hotel recommended having a large group. Website: https://www.airportshuttles.com/atlantahotel/sheraton-atlanta-hotel-room.html

-If you are traveling from the airport, take any northbound train to the Peachtree Center MARTA station. Follow the signs pointing John Portman Blvd after exiting the train. After walking through the fare gate, follow the signs again to Peachtree Street East.

-At street level turn left on Peachtree and walk to the first intersection (look for Hard Rock Cafe) and turn left on Andrew Young International Blvd. The entrance to the hotel is two blocks down at the intersection with Courtland Street.

-Enter the station and get on a train. All departing trains travel northbound to downtown and Midtown Atlanta, so you don’t have to be concerned about which train to board. However, to reach Lenox, Brookhaven, Chamblee or Doraville, get on a train marked “Doraville.”

-If you need to reach the red line after 8:30 p.m., board the first departing gold train and travel to the Lindbergh Center MARTA station to transfer to the red line.

$2.50 per trip

3. Taxi

-According to the hotel website (https://www.marriott.com/hotels/maps/travel/atlxs-sheraton-atlanta-hotel/), the fare for a taxi from the Atlanta airport to the conference hotel is estimated to be $30.00 one way.

4. Uber

Driving Directions: Take I-85N and continue on I-75N/I-85N. Take exit 248C for Freedom Parkway towards GA-10E/Andrew Young International Blvd. Use the left lane to follow signs for International Blvd. Continue onto Andrew Young International Blvd. Turn left onto Courtland Street SE and then left into the property.
